Huge flare on the far side of the sun. Let's hope we get another going off when that region reaches us coming around to the earth facing side.

Farside Event = X14.

The major farsided event that produced the bright CME a few days ago was estimated to be approximately an X14, clearly the strongest solar flare of Cycle 25. This data was provided by the Solar Orbiter (SolO) spacecraft which was developed by the European Space Agency (ESA). Based on the trajectory of the CME and Helioseismic imagery, old sunspot region 3738 would seem like the most likely source. We should begin to see this region reappear by the middle of next week (July 31st).

ENLIL model of some recent activity on the sun. We may expect active or storm aurora conditions towards the 24th. We do currently have the problem of a big moon, so if it's a weaker aurora show then it will be washed out by luminosity of the moon.

We can give you the best chance of seeing the aurora on our tours. We know nothing is ever guaranteed with the weather or aurora, but if the skies are clear then you know we'll be out chasing and watching that satellite data.

Stu has been travelling to Iceland for years and Bob has been photographing the aurora for almost 10 years in various countries. You're in good hands.

Have you seen the aurora before? Feel free to post your images below.
