Deep in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon is the Napo Cultural Center where nature, culture, community and tourism come together. This isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a community driven experience. Built, run, and sustained by the Kichwa Añangu people who live within the community, every visit directly supports local conservation and traditions. From sharing meals prepared with ancestral recipes to exploring the rainforest with expert indigenous guides, every moment here is a connection to something deeper. Admittedly, I was at first a little intimidated by the rustic nature, but it has turned out to be one of my favorite places I’ve experienced. Staying here isn’t just travel… it’s travel with purpose.

I loved staying at Tambo del Inka in Peru’s Sacred Valley. The rooms are elegant with private balconies overlooking the Andes and the Vilcanota River. We were all obsessed with the resident Alpacas! It’s really a perfect spot to enjoy all the scenery and adventures that the sacred Valley offers.

Ocean breeze, rooftop views, and timeless, elegance at Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel, where the Pacific meets Peruvian hospitality.
Miraflores Park is a five star luxury hotel in Lima‘s upscale Miraflores District, renowned for its vibrant, social scene and proximity to cultural attractions. It offers breathtaking ocean views, especially from its rooftop pool and observatory lounge on the 11th floor. The hotel features 87 spacious suites, with some suites offering private saunas or Roman bathtubs. The hotel’s restaurants include Tragaluz, known for its Peruvian infusion cuisine, and the Observatory, which offers panoramic views of Lima and the ocean, providing a perfect setting for breakfast or candlelight dinners. Andean Adventures! Hanging out at around 10,000 feet for ATVs, archeological sites, Andean blessings, intentions and offerings, dancing, eating food from Mother Earth, watching master weavers (Guardians of the culture, Keepers of the earth). So much laughing. Pretty remarkable day!

Peru is a true foodie destination! (And the food is accessible and not intimidating.) So many fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious seafood, and great meats. Every meal we’ve had has been amazing. Two highlights have been a private cooking class and shopping the market with a remarkable chef (the articles about her adorn her kitchen), and a traditional meal with meats and root vegetables cooked on hot stones under herbs and rocks and dirt. We can learn so much about cultures through food! (And having fantastic guides to explain and interpret the food is so wonderful.)

Untamed beauty, wildlife everywhere, surreal landscapes- welcome to the Galápagos Islands!
