This rare photo was taken by Zechariah Perry, a local photographer who was kind enough to give us permission to share his photo and a little story about what this image is about.

He said:
"This photograph was taken by me at Kaivakovu village, along Orokolo Bay in Gulf Province. It shows two local fishermen wading through shallow coastal waters using traditional fishing nets known locally as Keve. These nets are commonly used in the area, especially during low tide, where fishermen walk along the shoreline to catch small fish carried in by the waves.

The practice is part of everyday coastal life and reflects a fishing method that has been passed down through generations. The moody weather and incoming rain added to the atmosphere, capturing both the beauty and resilience of life in this part of Papua New Guinea."
