I don’t often share publicly about the quiet, generous moments of love and support I receive from my clients - not because they don’t happen (they do, and often), but because many of them feel so personal, so touching, that I keep them close to my heart.
But this past weekend… it’d struck a chord so deep, I’m still beaming with gratitude. And I’m a little teary-eyed as I write this, so bear with me.
You see, I already have the most amazing clients - brilliant, kind, thoughtful, and wildly inspiring human beings. I’m so grateful that they trust me with something as intimate as planning their travels, the kind that creates lifelong memories and often marks something deeply meaningful in their lives. That trust is sacred to me.
One of the greatest joys in this work is getting to see the world through your journeys - reading your recount of the trip to your loved ones online, seeing the sparkle in your eyes in photos from Kyoto, Bali, or Paris, hearing you say that the trip was more than you’ve imagined, receiving videos and messages from you gushing about the view from your hotel room. That is the reward. That is 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.
But then, sometimes, someone does something so quietly generous, it humbles me to my core.
On Saturday, a client called to book a trip. She’d already have everything figured out - destination, hotels, flights, dates - she even has a full spreadsheet with pricing and activities. She didn’t 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 me to book it. But she 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 me to. Not because it would be cheaper (it wouldn’t), not because she couldn’t book it herself (she absolutely could), but because she wanted her money to support a small business — my small business.
She never even said it out loud. No grand gestures. Just quiet, intentional support. To her, it was a few extra keystrokes. To me? It was the difference between another faceless transaction and a client saying, “I see you. I believe in you. You matter.” That booking might help me cover rent this month or invest in a new tool to improve your travel experience. That booking says, “Keep going.” And that just… it hit me. 🥹🥲
And then - as if my heart wasn’t already full -another favorite client (who I’ve been lucky enough to “travel” with to 16 countries and counting) messaged to say she was sending me a little something. I thought it’d be a sweet souvenir - maybe tea from Malaysia. She’s already given me so much- rave reviews, referrals, challenges that helped me grow as an advisor, and the most beautiful paj ntaub mos set. But y’all… I opened the box, and inside was 𝘎𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘪!! I don’t even own Gucci!
I sat there staring at it, completely floored. Speechless. Who thinks of their travel advisor like this? Who 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 like this?
𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘰.
I am so deeply, endlessly grateful to each and every one of you. For your trust, your kindness, your referrals, your photos, your texts, your tags, your energy, your support. For thinking of me. For choosing to work with a small business instead of an app. For letting me share in your memories.
Thank you for letting me live my dream. Thank you for making it 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴.
Love, Yeng
