True story. Take detailed documentation (before, during and after photos and videos), and maybe even wait until the next administration to do this. 😅

Some Chinese tourists travel to South Korea for plastic surgery due to its advanced cosmetic procedures and competitive prices.

However, the dramatic changes in appearance can sometimes lead to problems at immigration when returning to China, as their new faces may not match their passport photos.

This has raised concerns over identity verification and has prompted some agencies to issue certificates of surgery to help travelers clear customs.

[GIVEAWAY CONTEST WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT] Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry for our giveaway contest for a stay at the Awakening Sanctuary in Mexico. It was such a joy reading through your dream vacations - each one was thoughtfully written and full of heart. We hope every single one of them comes true someday.

Congratulations to our winner, Mel Moua, who shared the following dream vacation. We felt every word and couldn't agree more. Here is an excerpt from Mel's entry:

"Even though we've lived in the United States for almost 50 years, we've not seen the diverse landscape of this country. A cross country train journey offers the perfect opportunity to see and experience the totality of life in this country. I would love to do this trip with a group of elders from my family."

I don’t often share publicly about the quiet, generous moments of love and support I receive from my clients - not because they don’t happen (they do, and often), but because many of them feel so personal, so touching, that I keep them close to my heart.

But this past weekend… it’d struck a chord so deep, I’m still beaming with gratitude. And I’m a little teary-eyed as I write this, so bear with me.

You see, I already have the most amazing clients - brilliant, kind, thoughtful, and wildly inspiring human beings. I’m so grateful that they trust me with something as intimate as planning their travels, the kind that creates lifelong memories and often marks something deeply meaningful in their lives. That trust is sacred to me.

One of the greatest joys in this work is getting to see the world through your journeys - reading your recount of the trip to your loved ones online, seeing the sparkle in your eyes in photos from Kyoto, Bali, or Paris, hearing you say that the trip was more than you’ve imagined, receiving videos and messages from you gushing about the view from your hotel room. That is the reward. That is 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.

But then, sometimes, someone does something so quietly generous, it humbles me to my core.

On Saturday, a client called to book a trip. She’d already have everything figured out - destination, hotels, flights, dates - she even has a full spreadsheet with pricing and activities. She didn’t 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 me to book it. But she 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 me to. Not because it would be cheaper (it wouldn’t), not because she couldn’t book it herself (she absolutely could), but because she wanted her money to support a small business — my small business.

She never even said it out loud. No grand gestures. Just quiet, intentional support. To her, it was a few extra keystrokes. To me? It was the difference between another faceless transaction and a client saying, “I see you. I believe in you. You matter.” That booking might help me cover rent this month or invest in a new tool to improve your travel experience. That booking says, “Keep going.” And that just… it hit me. 🥹🥲

And then - as if my heart wasn’t already full -another favorite client (who I’ve been lucky enough to “travel” with to 16 countries and counting) messaged to say she was sending me a little something. I thought it’d be a sweet souvenir - maybe tea from Malaysia. She’s already given me so much- rave reviews, referrals, challenges that helped me grow as an advisor, and the most beautiful paj ntaub mos set. But y’all… I opened the box, and inside was 𝘎𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘪!! I don’t even own Gucci!

I sat there staring at it, completely floored. Speechless. Who thinks of their travel advisor like this? Who 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 like this?

𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘰.

I am so deeply, endlessly grateful to each and every one of you. For your trust, your kindness, your referrals, your photos, your texts, your tags, your energy, your support. For thinking of me. For choosing to work with a small business instead of an app. For letting me share in your memories.

Thank you for letting me live my dream. Thank you for making it 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴.

Love, Yeng

Yesterday, one of my travel partners in China reminded me that today is International Women’s Day. Since China is nearly a day ahead, they were already celebrating. As we wrapped up our call, he wished me a happy Women’s Day. At first, ignorant me was amused, like “Oh… yall have this in China, too?” But quickly dawned on me just how global this day truly is.

In China, Women’s Day is celebrated much like Valentine’s or Mother’s Day, with men showering the women in their lives with flowers, sweets, and gifts. Women often get to leave work early and enjoy shopping discounts—because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love that? In Germany, today is an official public holiday, with activists using the occasion to push for gender equality. In Italy, today is La Festa della Donna, where women receive yellow mimosa flowers as a symbol of appreciation and solidarity. And in countries like Mexico and the Philippines, marches take center stage, promoting women empowerment and equity.

What a day to be a woman! While my own celebration here in San Diego is a personal one — I’m on my way out for a sunset hike along the coast—I can’t help but be grateful to be a woman!

This day also reminds me why I started a new venture: bringing women together - hopefully from all over the world - to cultivate sisterhood through travel. The idea was born from a women’s hiking trip I hosted last summer in Norway—an experience that gave me something far deeper than just travel. It ignited a calling to create a space where empowered women travelers can celebrate, learn from, heal, and uplift one another. I’ve yet to come up with a name for these retreats, but the movement has begun.

I hope you’ll join me in Switzerland this year. Let’s build something incredible together. 🌍💜👭✨
