جزيرة سيهيل..
قرية نوبية قديمة تعتبر من أقدم الجزر فى النوبة
تقع جزيرة سهيل علي بعد 4 كم جنوب اسوان والي الشمال من خزان اسوان , وهي احدي جزر الشلال الاول في اسوان ، وهذه الجزيرة تتميز بمنظرها الرائع والساحر بسبب طبيعتها ومكانها المميز الذي يلجأون اليه الناس عن طريق التجديف بمراكب يدوية بدلًا من استخدام المراكب الحديثة التي قد تسبب الازعاج لسكان الجزيرة، ولكن ميزتها الاولي هي في كم النقوش الصخرية التي سجلت علي صخورها وكانها مجلد تاريخي او سجل زمني يسجل كل من مر بالجزيرة ذهابا وايابا ، وهي تؤرخ ما بين عصور ما قبل التاريخ وحتي العصور اليونانية الرومانية.
جزيرة سهيل مشهورة بآثار وخاصة "لوحة المجاعة" وكتب عنها كُتاب الغرب كثيرا.
وجزيرة سهيل تعتبر من أهم المحميات الطبيعية في مدينة أسوان بعد محميات سالوجة وغزال والفانتين وهيسا .
حدثت بمصر مجاعة كبيرة استمرت سبع سنوات نتيجة نقص فيضان النيل، حيث حدثت مجاعة كبري فأشار عليه الكهنة أن يقدم قرابين للإله خنوم معبود الشلال، وعندها فاض النيل وسجلت أحداث هذه القصة على أحد أحجار الجزيرة وسميت بلوحة المجاعة .
كذلك أعتبر المصريون الجزيرة "بيت للإله" كل الملوك كانوا يتقربون للإله فيها وحرصوا على النقش على جدران أحجارها حتى وصلت ٢٩٧نقش وسميت بإسم جزيرة الجبال المنقوشة، وكان كل حاكم يرسل نائبه للجزيرة لاعتماد أوراقه وينقش على صخورها أعماله والسيرة الذاتية له لذا اعتبرت أول شهر عقاري أو دار وثائق في التاريخ لكثرة هذه النقوش، وكانت قديما طريق تجارى بين مصر وأفريقيا وذكرت في كتاب وصف مصر من أيام الحملة الفرنسية .
Sehel Island..
Is located in the Nile, about 2 miles southwest of Aswan in southern Egypt .and is roughly halfway between the city and the upstream Aswan Low Dam.
It is a large island with a distictive location , people go there rowing with sailboats inplace of using modern boats to avoid disturbance for the island residents, you will recognize the Nubian culture eternity in it.
It contains many of the religious monuments, ancient Egyptians were made to extract the Aswan granite. And where they worship the goddess of water, On It.
You can visit the traditional Nubian houses, or watch a crocodile, or get a henna tattoo of a local population, or ride a camel.
The island was known in ancient tiles as Setet,and there are many archaeological sites, including sacred places, such as the temple of Anuket, the Egyptian water goddess, and goddess of the Nile's cataracts.
Seheil was home to a stone quarry for granite used during various Ancient Egyptian eras, and there are many inscriptions in the island's granite boulders. These inscriptions were usually left by travellers marking either the start or end of their journey to Nubia.
There are several famous inscriptions that record ancient historical events. One is the Famine Stela, which is of Greco-Roman origin, but claims to record events from the time of Djoser and Imhotep.
