Let’s chat real quick about joining the travel planning industry!

Over the weekend, I received a wave of applications from folks showing interest in becoming a professional travel agent. That’s amazing, we are always looking for talented, well-traveled people to round out our team!

That being said, I did have to send out decline letters to every single one. Most applications stated they don’t travel often, haven’t been to Disney in years, or haven’t visited the destinations they’d like to specialize in.

Here’s the truth I always want to be super transparent about:
- Some agencies will hire anyone, no questions asked… and then provide zero training. That’s a disservice to both you and your clients.
- Our clients expect expertise backed by real travel experience, not just what you’ve read online!

At Axis Travel Group I do have some requirements to hire:
✨ If you want to specialize in cruising, you need to have cruised prior.
✨ If you want to specialize in Disney, you need firsthand experience staying on property, dining on property, and knowing the ins and outs.
✨ If you want to be an effective travel agent, the “meat and potatoes” of your business must be hands-on experience!

This isn’t a “learn as you go” career. While there’s always something new to pick up, the foundation of being a trusted travel advisor is your own travel background.

So, am I hiring? YES! We’re always looking for awesome people to contribute to this industry. But before applying, please make sure you’ve done your homework and checked the boxes needed to be a truly great agent for your clients. They deserve that at the very least!

This is fantastic news!!! Still keeping a close eye on this. I have two huge families cruising next week and I want to be sure I can keep them in the loop as needed. Hurricane season is always full of lots of emotions, I’ve been through several and practically a meteorologist.

Though there is still some question about how wide Erin's turn will be, confidence remains high that the storm will turn away from the United States.

While AI can be a fun tool, this right here is exactly why you don’t use it to plan something as special as a trip or design a custom itinerary. Considering this is a picture of me at the grand opening, I’m going to question that “information.”

This is why you work with a real human being and NOT the internet. Someone with hands-on experience at the destinations they specialize in, not just online searches and guesswork. I know my clients will be at Epic Universe well before the so-called “opening” in 2026, and I’ll be here to take care of every detail for them.

The internet can be amazing in so many ways, but when it comes to something as priceless as a family vacation and lifelong memories… don’t trust it to algorithms. Trust it to someone who’s actually been there! 🩵
