In 1676, along the shores of the Aklan river there was no other town civilly organized after proven in the selection, that Calivo was divided geographically in two parts, the extensive zone which had no both shores of said river, calling that part "Ilawod" (which means "near the sea"). At the proper time, this was governed by Justice of Peace in both parts, one or each one of them. The two qouted parts were called: Town of Ilawod or town of Calivo, and town of Ilaya. This site Opong-Opong conserves it's primitive name (Opong-Opong) until the day of the date and is situated very near the barrio of Ugsod of the present district of Banga.
Many judge that the town of Opong-Opong must be the community that gave origin to the present district of Banga in view of the town of Ilaya (Opong-Opong) is the same to the town transferred to the site of Tigayon, today barrio of the Municipality of Calivo in the year 1694 calling them town of Tigayon. This same town was transferred to the site that the town of Banga occupies in 1714, when the upper part remained exposed within the present municipality of Malinao, baptizing them with the "Banga" instead of the name "Tigayon"
