New to our collection: The Lighthouse Hotel & Spa in Büsum ⚓️
Our travel scout Kirsten visited with her family and loved the hotel immediately, especially her stylish suite with its chic interiors and sweeping views to the horizon.

Büsum is a true hidden gem — just under an hour from Hamburg, and full of relaxed, family-friendly charm. Think: barefoot walks in the Wadden Sea, boat trips for little explorers, and breezy days by the coast.

Our travel scout Tanja Runte spent a magical weekend with her husband and two sons in Carolinensiel, a rising coastal gem in East Frisia known for its quiet charm, historic harbour and family-friendly vibes. They checked into – where Nordic-cool design meets relaxed hospitality and comfort –ideal for slow, soul-filled days by the sea.

Meanwhile, our Langeoog expert Anna Ostrowski visited the freshly opened Silt & Sand (stay tuned for more ✌️).

Tanja was impressed by the thoughtful interiors, warm service and inspiring setting of Noord – a fresh take on the North Sea.

Comporta Summer 2025! What’s new, what’s changed — and what we’ll always love.

Slide 2 + 3: Carvalhal Beach⛱️🏄🏽
Still our happy place! We’re still smitten with Carvalhal Beach, where our friends from set up their beach cabana during summer. Surfing with them? More than fun — it’s a feeling. And sometimes, dolphins come say hi.

Our favourite spot at Carvalhal is still . For the views, the light, the interiors, the team!

Slide 6: A Bakery Find 🥖🧁
Carvalhal’s new sweet spot. As boutiques pop up in the village, authentic cafés are harder to find. Enter – a gem for fresh baguettes and surprisingly good pastries.

Slide 7: Sublime’s New Sado Restaurant.🍸
The Sublime Comporta family grows with .restaurante , their new riverside restaurant at Comporta’s entrance. Casual, stylish, and yes – kid friendly too.

No visit without this dinner. We’re loyal to . The seasonal sharing plates, the natural wines, the atmosphere – it’s a must, every time.

Haven’t been in a while? Pego now has a sleek beach club .beachclub and a more polished crowd. The views: still wow. The restaurant is fabulous anyway. Tip: there’s also a low-key snack bar for barefoot dining. Forgot your outfit? No stress.
Right in the village is the ultra chic department store by .women . Think beachwear, Comporta style — curated and cool.

Why Alcácer do Sal?

Just 30 minutes from Comporta and nestled along the stunning Sado estuary, Alcácer do Sal is a small riverside town rich in charm, history, and a sense of place. 🏰🇵🇹

It’s the kind of destination we love - where you’ll find a handful of thoughtful shops, a few standout cafés, stylish guesthouses, and nature all around. No crowds, no rush - just real, grounded beauty.

Here are a few insider tips and happy places to explore:

1️⃣ The small town (around 8,500 inhabitants) is easily walkable if you’re moderately fit. Don’t miss the hike up to Castelo de Alcácer do Sal and the Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo - the views from above are absolutely worth it.

2️⃣ Park outside town in the main free parking area, then cross the bridges for the best panoramas. Wander through the charming old town and check out inspiring spots like and .desal

3️⃣ For authentic tapas and local delicacies, we recommend .portugal

4️⃣ To explore the area and the Sado River, book an excursion with - their tours are excellent.
