A beautiful day of shared smiles - with the nice, friendly couple from America and the lovely locals in Hata and Harie. At Hata village, Kimiko-san and her daughter Fusae-san welcomed us at their home with refreshingly cold coffee. In Harie, Chiyoko-san gave us the wonderful opportunity to learn her life blessed with the crystal-clear spring water. The day was full of cheerful exchanges among the guests, the locals, and the guide. Thank you very much for coming on the tour!
アメリカからのとてもフレンドリーなカップルと畑・針江を訪ねました。この日も地元の方との出会いが沢山。ゲストのお二人の気さくな人柄もあり、どの出会いも会話が弾んで素敵な時間になりました。すぐ時間が過ぎてしまって、名残惜しい感じになってしまうのが残念！ガイドの私も一緒になってえらい楽しませてもらいました。ありがとうございます～。

Perfect day for a stroll through Hata and Harie with the lovely Lithuanian couple (first guests from the country in YUtour’s history!). In contrast to mountainous Japan, Lithuania is rather flat with continuing gentle hills. We walked up to the top of the Hata village (about 360 meters ASL), and noticed we reached higher than any places in their country! Thank you for coming on the tour and telling me a lot about your beautiful country!
リトアニアからの素敵なカップルと畑・針江へ。悠ツアー史上初のリトアニアからのお客さんです！山だらけの日本とは対照的に、リトアニアは丘が延々と続く平らな国だそうで（調べたら最高地点は海抜294m）、畑のてっぺん（約360m）に登ったらそれはもう自国の誰よりも高いところにいる、ということになるんだそうです。針江では今年初めて、針江大川に入って涼みました。そろそろそういう季節ですな。ご参加ありがとうございました～。リトアニア、行ってみたい。

Grateful to share a charm of Shigaraki with the lovely couple from Israel today. Both countries have a long history of pottery making spanning thousands of years. It was interesting and enjoyable to meet and talk with local potters and look for similarities and differences of ceramics between the two countries. Thank you for coming on the tour!
イスラエルからのご夫婦を信楽へご案内。日本のやきものも歴史も古いけれど、イスラエルでも２千年前の焼き物の破片が見つかったりするそうです。当たり前やけどイスラエルの陶器と日本の陶器は違うし、信楽の中だけでもいろんな陶器があるわけで、たくさんの作家さんに会って、いろんな作品を見て、新しいアイデアを得て帰ってもらうことができた（はず）！ご参加、ありがとうございました～

An exciting day trip to Shigaraki with the enthusiastic potter from Romania. We were very lucky to be able to visit the ceramic fair, one of the biggest and liveliest events in the town! Seeing thousands of different ceramic pieces and talking with many potters about their works were really inspiring. It was a day full of beautiful pottery and exquisite craftsmanship. Thank you very much for taking the tour!
この日はルーマニアからのお客さん。自宅工房を作ったとのことで、陶芸熱かなり高めです。ラッキーにもちょうど作家市の開催中で、ぜひ行かねば！と会場まで足を伸ばしました。いろんな作家さんの作品を一堂に見て、作り手の本人たちと直接しゃべったし、その後の町の散策でも、作家さんが目の前でろくろを急遽ひいてくれたりして、たくさんインスピレーションを得て帰路についたのでした。ご参加ありがとうございます～！

A wonderful escape from busy cities to the peaceful countryside. We went to two Satoyama villages: Hata and Harie, under the beautiful spring weather. It was in the middle of the rice planting season. Throughout the tour, we often saw farmers planting rice in fields here and there. It was also fun to meet and talk with friendly locals on the way, including the farmer couple who kindly showed us how their rice planting machine works in the muddy rice field. Thank you very much for coming on the tour!
イギリスからのご夫婦と畑・針江へ。この日も素晴らしい天気。ちょうど田植えのシーズンで、ツアー中何度も田植えの光景を目にしました。畑の散策では、田んぼで作業中の知人夫婦に出会って、田植え機のことをいろいろ教えてもらいました。畑がいつもより賑やかになる季節ですな。気温があがって、針江の湧き水もますますおいしい感じ。季節は変わっていきます。ご参加ありがとうございました！

Had such a fun and lovely day exploring Hata and Harie with a wonderful guest from the US. The flooded rice terraces in Hata were absolutely breathtaking, and the stream of the Harie-okawa River sparkled under the warm spring sun. On top of the stunning scenery, we had a great time visiting some lovely locals' homes and chatting with them. It was the only day she spent in the countryside during her Japan trip—what an honor that she chose to join my tour on such a special day!
アメリカからの一人旅のお客さんと畑・針江へ！畑の風景には季節ごとに違う美しさがあるけれど、田んぼに水が張られたこの季節はハイライトの一つです。針江大川の水も、田植えが始まると濁り出すけれど、この日はまだ澄んでいて、太陽の下で輝いてめっちゃきれい。風景も地元の人との出会いも楽しんで、春の良い一日でした。今回の旅行は都市をメインに巡るけど、今日だけは趣が違う一日にしたかったとお客さん。そんな特別な日に参加してくれてありがとうございます～

A wonderful day with friendly and cheerful two couples from the USA. Walking around the two Satoyama villages was full of encounters with birds, fish, insects, spring flowers, as well as lovely locals. Although it was a long 10-hour tour, time passed so fast as we enjoyed every meeting very much. Thank you very much for coming on the tour!

Participated in the rice planting event for the "Tanada (rice terrace) Owner" program. Doing things by hand was backbreaking but I managed to finish my field with a lot of help from other young participants!
今日は畑の棚田オーナーの田植えでした。一人での参加やったけど、フィールドワーク（？）に来ていた龍谷大の学生さんの助けもあって、腰いわす前に無事終わりました～。秋が楽しみ。
コロナで途絶えた畑の棚田オーナー制度を、地元の有志の方たちが昨年から再始動してくださいました。今日は40人近くが参加。賑やかな春の棚田はいいものでした。

Went on a day trip to Shigaraki with the lovely couple from the USA. As one of the things the guests --- especially the wife, who was an experienced ceramicist --- was looking forward to most was to try their hands on a local clay, we visited the local potter couple at their studio to make our own pieces. Though (or because) the Shigaraki clay was different from what the guests worked with normally, it brought us many new insights. Chatting with the local couple after the making session was also a big fun! Thank you for coming on the tour
アメリカからのご夫婦と信楽へ。とくに奥さんが陶芸に熱心とのこと。地元作家さんに会ったり、工房を見学したり、陶芸体験をしたり、信楽をまるまる一日満喫しました。作陶では、普段使う土とはずいぶん感触が違うらしくて苦労されたけど、だからこそ新しい発見も多かったみたい。帰ってからの創作に向けて、インスピレーションを沢山得てくれたようです。

So fortune to go on the tour to Hata and Harie under such a nice spring weather. Cherry trees in the both villages were blooming, rice paddies in Hata were flooded, and Underwater flowers of Baikamo buttercup in Harie Okawa River waving in the crystal clear stream. Today’s guests were from Norway. Both Norway and Japan are mountainous countries. It was fun to walk around the two satoyama villages looking for differences and similarities between both countries one by one. Thank you for coming!
もう４月中旬ですが、ノルウェーからのナイスなお二人と畑と針江に行ってきました。畑の田んぼに水が張られていたり、針江大川の梅花藻が少しずつ増えたりするのを見ると、春が来た！と気分が高まるわけやけど、ノルウェーも冬が終わる季節はやっぱりupliftingな感じなんだそうです。日本よりも冬が暗くて長いし、それは待ち遠しいんだろうなと。ノルウェーのこと、いろいろ教えてもらいました。ツアーに来てくれてありがとう～

Had a great day out to Shigaraki with a lovely couple from the USA. We walked around the town hopping studio to studio energetically. At each place, local potters warmly welcomed us and showed their works and workspace. We were especially lucky to be able to see one of the potters we met firing his wood-fire kiln! アメリカ・ニューヨークからのお２人と信楽ツアー。お一人が陶芸大好きで、なるべく沢山の工房を見て回りたいとのリクエスト。陶芸の森も含め、エネルギッシュに歩き回って、いろんな作家さんにお会いしてきました。いろんな話を聞けたし、ラッキーなことに焼成中の薪窯も見られたし、沢山インスピレーションを得た一日となったのでした。ありがとうございます～
