Wildlife often suffers at our brutal hand, but you can help today! Meet Gomez, a black vulture being treated at Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation for a fractured wing and ingested lead poisoning. From now until Tuesday 10/13, Musconetcong Strong will donate 30% of all merchandise sales to Gomez' care. See last photos above for available designs (t-shirts $25, trifold zines $10 with free sticker, stickers $2/5). BTW we need Gomez around to scare all of the bad little kiddies this Halloween! More details on Gomez' plight can be found here:

People have asked if Musconetcong Strong is only about advocating for the river of the same name. It's not. It's about creating a dialogue on bioregionalism, preservation, and learning what resides upon every fold of the landscape. Which Venn diagrams intersect over your favorite places? Whether you personally connect with an unnamed creek, meadow, mountain, or the muddy ditch in your back yard, we hope that our content inspires your conversations!

Attention humans of the great state of New Jersey - the wildlife has spoken. They gave you a couple hundred years to steward the land properly but have recently determined that you effed things up quite properly and royally! As a result, you have been deemed unfit to cohabitate with them. Coexistence is no longer an option. Consider this your eviction notice. Please vacate the state by the end of the month without causing further disruption to wildlife. Issuance of future visiting permits may be considered by sending a formal request and a self addressed stamped envelope to PO Box 905, Ronkonkoma, NY.

Satire aside, more information on TNC's successful bobcat habitat project can be found here.

The Shortening
Of the light
and grasshopper's lore
Squeak! As the chip-squirrel
readies his cache
Burlap wrapped
sienna-gold blooms
Creaking whitewash milking bench
The barn shelters a different and
redder steed now
Woodsman readies too
with swing of blade
Dad's brow furrows at winter's tale
Fading sun as colors pale
