This is just one of many lanterns hanging around the old temple of Sam Po Kong, built by Cheng Ho. A Chinese admiral who came to Semarang on around the year of 1435. It lies on the western part of the city, which was a part of the sea once and as the sedimentation process took place, it became dry land and now has been called as the Semarang Bawah or The Lower part of Semarang.
