Here’s what happens when you start working at our fantastic stud just outside of Sydney 👏

‘I currently work the mornings with the racehorses and then in the afternoon I head over to another yard where I help with event horses. At this moment in time, preparation is starting for the event season where I will be going to events to groom. I am enjoying learning about what it takes to get event horse to perform at the highest level of the sport from mainting all the equipment and tack, and working the horses to feeding the horses.

I’m having a great time, I definitely enjoy the two different yards. I’m learning so much with the thoroughbreds and how to work/deal with young horses, but I also love the competition side of horses and eventing is right up my street so I enjoy both of them for different reasons.

It’s so different from at home and I really enjoy learning new things and ways of doing things!
I feel like no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn and coming to a different country really shows that and I love that! X

A spontaneous trip to the Australian Open booked on the Thursday to fly solo on Monday night to go to the tennis on Tuesday - my day off and had the most incredible day 😍I had the best time and it was so worth the trip!

Went to a local sanctuary and got to feed kangaroos!

I head to Melbourne again at the beginning of March with my friend from home as we are going to the Formula one and I honestly cannot wait!

My time here has been amazing. The employers are always so helpful. I have learned lots and I am looking forward to exploring more equine opportunities in the future since having this opportunity to work at the stud in Australia.

I’ve made such great people and they allow me to be myself. They show me around and tell me stories about where they have been and where all the good spots are. I am a social butterfly and living here has made it very easy to let me explore and see what my surroundings have to offer.

Some of them I’m really going to miss when I leave not gunna lie. But hopefully I think, I have it planned to come back and visit for a bit or even come back and work here! x

I found my job in Australia with the help of Employ Equine. They helped me set everything up from doing a one-week tour in Sydney, (which is amazing and highly recommended, great way to meet new people and make some friends) to making it out to the Thoroughbred yard that I am currently working at. I worked with Georgie; she is super friendly and very helpful. She was fast in answering any questions that I threw her way. Once we figured out where I would go for my job, she put me in touch with someone else headed to the same place as me. Helping us both feel not as alone when heading to a new place for the first time in our lives. I really love the way Georgie keeps in touch and checks in with us, even after we have made it to our destination. I would highly recommend for anyone looking, you can stop because you’ve found it!

I’ve have had an amazing time doing the paid horse work programme in Australia. I had the best time in Sydney making loads of new friends and creating lots of memories, whilst also getting set up to start working straight away. Travelling to my job was also very easy and I am currently really enjoying my time working at a pre-training thoroughbred yard and learning lots. The team were super helpful and supportive throughout my whole experience and is always happy to answer any questions big or small about my time in Australia. Would highly recommend this course to anybody thinking of doing it!

‘Today is my first day off and though I am sore I am so happy! The farm is great and I’m so thankful for everything you helped with to make this such a smooth transition ❤️ I have some pics of Sally and I from our week! Port Stephens was really fun! Sand boarding (and saw some horses galloping on the beach!) ..Sydney was great as well - we had a nice night with our group on Saturday before we ended! 😊 thank you for everything!’
