TAKE THE TRAIN FROM CAPE TOWN TO MATJIESFONTEIN
24 July to 26 July 2026 for a two-night adventure! But you enjoy 3 days on the train
We are so excited to invite you to join us on this journey departing from Cape Town, passing by the Winelands, through the legendary Hex River tunnels (one of them 13.5 km long), and out into the Great Karoo.
Arriving in Matjiesfontein, our guests spend two nights in the village, exploring, visiting the museums, and just settling down to a slower pace. Founded in 1884, Matjiesfontein is a National Heritage Site, with its red-jacketed porters, its Victorian high street, and the red bus that tours the town.
On the second night, we are treating guests to a guided stargazing experience under the Karoo sky, which is about as far from city light as you can get, and as clear as a night sky comes.
All meals and accomodation is included, from breakfast on the first morning to lunch on the way home. Tea, coffee and water are complimentary onboard the train throughout the trip.
