Youth Day was a truly meaningful day filled with connection, collaboration, and opportunities to inspire the next generation of tourism professionals.

I had the privilege of attending two impactful industry events. The first was the AYTHA Entrepreneurship Imbizo, hosted in partnership with SAACI at Rosebank International, where young entrepreneurs, students, startups, and industry leaders came together to discuss innovation, AI, policy, collaboration, and market access within tourism.

I was especially proud to see my twin sister, business partner, and Co-Founder of Twin Venture, Gugu Ngcelwane, serving as a panellist during the SAACI programme, sharing insights from her entrepreneurial journey and contributing to important conversations about youth participation in the tourism sector.

Later in the day, I joined fellow industry stakeholders at Asara Wine Estate & Hotel in Stellenbosch for a collaborative Youth Day celebration hosted by SAACI Youth, Young Skål Professionals, FEDHASA Cape, Skål International Cape Town, and Women in Tourism Western Cape NexGen.

Twin Venture was proud to be one of the sponsors of the event, contributing our Quad Biking and Sandboarding experiences in support of youth development and engagement within the tourism industry.

As the Secretary of Women in Tourism Western Cape NexGen and Co-Founder of Twin Venture, I am encouraged by the collective commitment to developing young talent, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating pathways for future leaders in our industry.

A heartfelt thank you to all the organisers, partners, speakers, sponsors, and attendees who continue to invest in youth development and the future of tourism.

Together, we are not just celebrating youth we are empowering them to lead.

Honoured and grateful to be featured by Wesgro during Youth Month.

What started as a dream between two sisters in 2021 has grown into a business that allows us to showcase the beauty of the Western Cape while creating opportunities for others.

Tourism has the power to transform lives, support local businesses, create jobs, and inspire entrepreneurship. We are proud to play a small part in contributing to the growth of our communities through Twin Venture.

As part of Youth Month, Wesgro is spotlighting young changemakers who are driving innovation, creating opportunities and contributing to economic growth across Cape Town and the Western Cape.

Johannesburg-born twins Busisiwe and Gugu Ngcelwane are co-founders of Twin Venture, a tourism and adventure company based in Atlantis that creates memorable adventure experiences, including quad-biking and sandboarding – showcasing the region's natural beauty.

Inspired by the need to create opportunities in the face of high youth unemployment, the Ngcelwane twins launched their business in 2021, just one month after falling in love with Cape Town during a visit to the city.

Through their venture, they aim to make adventure tourism more accessible, support local communities, and create opportunities for other young people in tourism and entrepreneurship.

Their story demonstrates the powerful multiplier effect of tourism. Today, Twin Venture contributes to local economic activity by supporting suppliers and service providers, promoting local destinations and helping create employment opportunities.

"The Western Cape is one of the world's leading tourism destinations, offering incredible natural beauty, diverse experiences and a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem. Being based here has provided us with access to opportunities, partnerships and a supportive tourism network that has helped our business grow."
