Kapoochka easily stands out as one of our favourite restaurants for Indian food.

They have celebrated major milestones in the last year, establishing a restaurant space in Riverlands mall and more recently, attaining a halaal certification after years of being a halaal friendly establishment.

Recently they asked to pay them a visit to celebrate their certification and we decided to try out several menu items.

We started munching away with their ulta Vada Pav, a deconstructured version of battered fried potato patty, and a samosa chaat platted on a mixture of sauce balancing multiple flavours.

Complimenting this was their butter chicken, the aloo mattar curry and masala prawns. The butter chicken with butter naan is actually a favourite of ours, we have it quite often.

The naans are so fresh and buttery! This was our first time trying their aloo mattar and masala prawns - both were filled with flavour and delicious.

On separate occasions, we've also had their lamb biryani (the mutton is so tender and flavourful), the pani puri (we only wish there was more!), and the gulab jamun cheesecake (which we didn't expect to be nice, but was actually delicious).

If there were awards for food presentation, then Kapoochka wins it every time.

Their kitchen team’s plating skills are outstanding, and you almost feel sad breaking their carefully placed items.

They also win our hearts with their carefully selected spices that give an oomph to every dish, bringing a Kapoochka-specific taste to it.

Perhaps there is a masala they have for each dish that we are still not aware of. But we love it!

Their service is also great, and we highly recommend trying their chaats, butter chicken curry or any other curry on the menu.

Have you visited them before?

This has GOT to be on your bucketlist. Imagine waking up to the views of the Langebaan Lagoon while you sleep on a boat on the water!

We decided to finally book a night here with a group of friends, and we are in love.

Located in the West Coast National Park, the boats are a boats rideaway from the shore of the beaches.

They've got many different options available, and the conservation fee to the park is due per person at the entrance.

You can expect to have rooms inside, a kitchen, a braai area on the outside and a bathroom. The boat does move, but we didn’t feel it too much so even if you are often seasick, you should be fine :)

While staying on the boat, there are a bunch of things to look forward to. The first one is the lagoon itself. It’s so vast and beautiful that it will be crying for you to dip in. The waters aren’t too deep, and you can also take a life jacket and just float in the water.

Secondly, the porch area of the boats is a great sharing space to braai, play games, and enjoy a meal together.

Lastly, the sky is mesmerising, with all its stars sparkling at night. It’s worth every penny! Once you checkout, you can also sunbathe in the relatively quieter beach areas.

The houseboats get booked up quite quickly and we recommend making your reservations early on. Usually, they have a 2 night minimum stay especially on weekends, unless that is not available.
