Ok. Re: sarong story - I guess there is nothing to do except share what has happened today. When I was eventually handed the long-awaited order, I noticed a significant lack in size and weight. I informed the official that there must be some mistake, as my parcel should be considerably larger than the parcel in my hand. He confirmed my tracking number and the parcel match and told me there was no other parcel for me. Blood Pressure through the roof I exit customs to contact my supplier on the Garden Route. Various communications later I get informed that there has been a mistake and the bulk of my order has been "misplaced". Also that I should not worry as they will gladly refund me or send it with the "next ship"!
Now, how am I supposed to respond and react to that? To say that I am not already frustrated and ready to ! #@! and then find my supplier and do the same ! #@! to her is an understatement.
My father and mother taught me to do what you say you can do. This situation leaves me with egg on my honour. For that I am really not impressed.
All of my feelings and emotions aside, I have 8 round sarongs (pics will be posted tomorrow). They are certainly very lovely and unique, though I wouldn't call them Indian cotton - more chiffon-like.
So where do we go from here? Once the fight over who gets the first 8 is over, what next?
Options are to: 1. Refund your money. 2. Wait another 6 to 8 weeks for all your actual ordered items to arrive.
It would be pointless for me to try and describe the level of humiliation and anxiety I am experiencing. We are trying to start a new business based on professional service and trust, and this is NOT how things are supposed to happen. Well, not in our book anyway. The way it's supposed to go is: we advertise, you purchase, I order, they deliver and I supply = everyone happy.
Is this just a learning curve for us? We really don't want to disappoint people - especially in our local community. Maybe you all can tell me what to do please. (I'm sure many of you have very definite ideas on this, but I'd like something constructive if possible so we can all move forward).
We have some really exciting, cool, locally-sourced summer items that are available right now, but we are too embarrassed to post them yet, in the light of the current sarong debacle.
Looking forward (some trepidation) to hearing from you. Have a great weekend.
