A few important reminders for those taking on this beast of a hike!
๐ The majority of this route is on soft beach sand, which means your body will work much harder than on a normal trail. Expect your legs, feet and calves to take a serious beating.
๐ฆ ๐๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก ๐๐ฆ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐๐๐
Many hikers make the mistake of bringing only water.
โ ๏ธ Water is important, but water alone does not replace the electrolytes your body loses through sweat.
We strongly recommend bringing:
โ๏ธ Plenty of water
โ๏ธ Electrolyte drinks or sports drinks
โ๏ธ A few sachets of Rehydrate or similar electrolyte replacement products
โ๏ธ Salty snacks to help replace lost minerals
By the time you feel thirsty, you're often already behind on hydration.
๐ฃ ๐๐ข๐ข๐ง๐ช๐๐๐ฅ ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐ก๐๐๐ฅ๐ฆ
๐ฅ Trail running shoes are generally the best option
๐ฅ Lightweight hiking shoes are also suitable
โ Big, heavy hiking boots are NOT recommended for this challenge
โ Brand-new shoes are definitely not recommended
๐ฅพ Gaiters are highly recommended to help keep sand out of your shoes and reduce the risk of blisters.

โ๏ธ Wear quality hiking or running socks
โ๏ธ Avoid cheap cotton socks
โ๏ธ Trim your toenails before the hike
โ๏ธ Apply anti-chafe cream or Vaseline to known hot spots
โ๏ธ Carry blister plasters in your daypack
โ๏ธ Test your footwear before the event

The weather on the coast can change quickly, especially over the course of a full day.
We recommend:
โ๏ธ Lightweight, comfortable hiking clothing
โ๏ธ A light rain jacket or waterproof shell
โ๏ธ A windbreaker or light jacket for cooler conditions
โ๏ธ A hat or cap for sun protection
โ๏ธ Sunglasses
โ๏ธ Sunscreen

There is only ONE resupply point on this hike โ Zinkwazi Ski Boat Club, where we will stop briefly for snacks, drinks and a toilet break before heading back.
The rest of the route is pure remote coastal paradise! ๐๐ด
This means you must carry enough water, electrolytes, snacks and essentials to comfortably get you through long stretches of isolated coastline.

This is a full-day challenge.
Turning back alone is not an option.
For safety reasons, we start together and we finish together.
