Boesmankers (Monsonia patersonii)
Richtersveld / Namaqualand / Northern Cape
These photos were taken in the Botanical Succulent Garden in Guagab National Park
The name 'boesman-kers' translated means 'Bushman's candle' ... for a reason
These storky thick stems when completely dry (dry season being the better part of the year in these areas ) were used as candle sticks
If you light them they can burn for quite some time
Nature's natural candles !😄💚
