The Karoo Stone Folk Slackpacking Trail continues to make a lasting impression on our guests.
The last group from the 7th - 11th May 2026 confirmed this and we want to share some of the comments with you.
1) Congratulations on a job well done. We over 60's have come home with fantastic memories, thankful and happy hearts, new friends, and anticipation of more good hikes to come.
2) What an absolutely brilliant hike the Karoo Stone Folk Trail is.
You have set up a really brilliant trail.
I loved the beautiful scenery, staying in the farmhouses and meeting the very special Eastern Cape farmers, walking along stock/game trails, along rivers, over rocks and with a bit of bundu bashing too! What an adventure it was.
3) What a wonderful hike and stay we had. It was beautiful, fun, spiritual, interesting, and just delightful!! Kudos to your planning and organising. All on point.

We have been busy on the trail. Another group just completed the 4-night/3-day slackpacking trail. We had a first in this group, the youngest participant, Nic Birch, aged 11 to hike the full 3 days. This was a real family affair with two families with two young sons. Lots of learning, vasbyt and great fun. A great opportunity to reconnect with your children... no cell phones, no TV and no social media, only wide open spaces, fresh air and many interesting things to see and experience.
