🚂❤️ BAIE DANKIE VIR ’N PAAR ONVERGEETLIKE RITTE!

Baie dankie aan almal wat sedert die 24ste September, oor die laaste paar weke, saam met ons gery het. Dit was ’n paar ongelooflike ritte, vol mooi oomblikke, nuwe herinneringe en lekker mense langs die pad.

Van passasiers op die trein en mense by Santos wat vir mekaar “cheers!” roep, tot lekker pizzas en melkskommels by Die Stasie Hartenbos — dit is juis hierdie klein oomblikke wat elke rit so besonders maak.

Ons waardeer elkeen wat saam met ons geklim het, foto’s geneem het, geglimlag het, gewaai het en die stoomtrein-ervaring saam met ons geniet het.

🌊 WHY SANTOS BEACH IS SO SPECIAL 💙

There’s something truly special about arriving in Mossel Bay with beautiful Santos Beach stretching out beside you — and its Blue Flag status makes it even more worth celebrating.

The internationally recognised Blue Flag reflects high standards in areas such as water quality, environmental management, safety and beach facilities, making Santos Beach a wonderful place for families, visitors and locals to enjoy the coastline.

During your Atlantic Rail stop at Santos, you can take a swim, stroll along the sand, enjoy an ice cream from the kiosk, or simply relax and take in the views. 🌊☀️

If you’re feeling hungry, there are many restaurants in the Santos area, giving you plenty of choice during your stop. You can also take a walk to the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex and Shell Museum.

For us, Santos Beach isn’t simply where the train stops — it’s part of the whole Atlantic Rail experience. 🚂🌊

🚂🔥 DID YOU KNOW? THE WORK STARTS LONG BEFORE THE WHISTLE BLOWS…

A steam locomotive isn’t like your car — you don’t simply turn the ignition and start it.

A steam train journey might begin for passengers in the morning, but behind the scenes, the preparation starts the night before.

When Sylvia is due to run, someone stays with the locomotive through the night, keeping the fire going and making sure she is hot, building and maintaining the pressure needed to be ready for the following day’s journeys. 🔥

And steam travel takes a serious amount of fuel. On a day when we operate two trips, we can use an average of around 4 tons of coal. 😮

That’s four tons of coal, hours of preparation and a dedicated team working behind the scenes — all so that when you arrive, you get to hear that whistle, see the steam rise and experience the magic of a real working steam locomotive. 🚂💨

So the next time you climb aboard an Atlantic Rail journey, remember: your trip started long before you did. ❤️

Make this festive season one to remember with a steam train journey between Hartenbos and Mossel Bay aboard Atlantic Rail.

Dis altyd lekker om te sien hoe mense hierdie besondere stoomlokomotief bewonder en ’n mooi herinnering van hul besoek saamneem.
