Meet the Leopard Tortoise, the largest of the ""Little Five"" and a true marvel of the Kruger ecosystem.

Did you know?

The ""Hiss"" of Life: When threatened, they pull their head and legs in so quickly that the air is forced out of their lungs, making a distinct ""hissing"" sound. It's not a warning—it's just them making space!

GPS Experts: These tortoises are incredibly territorial. If moved, they have a ""homing"" instinct and will often try to walk miles to get back to their original home range.

Egg-ceptional Parents: A female can lay up to 30 eggs in a hole she digs, but she doesn't just leave them; she often urinates on the soil to soften it so she can dig more effectively.
