From late September through November, thousands of jacaranda trees burst into bloom, transforming the streets and neighbourhoods of Pretoria and Johannesburg into spectacular tunnels of purple. October is generally one of the best times to experience the trees at their fullest and brightest, although Mother Nature can shift the timing slightly.
