The fourth bird of the series — the Cardinal Woodpecker.
Africa’s most widespread woodpecker, small but incredibly busy. Often seen hitching its way up tree trunks in search of ants, beetles, and larvae.
Its bright red crown (on the males) gives it its name, but it’s the constant tapping and energetic feeding that really give this little bird away.
