The tour starts officially in Wakkerstroom on Thursday 10 Sept at 16:00, at our well appointed accommodation and "base camp" with a ride up Ossewaberg.
The road up to Ossewaberg is for the more seasoned rider. Additional transport up the route can be arranged.
From the summit of the mountain you will have a 360º view overlooking Wakkerstroom, Groenvlei and the Eastern Highveld.
Friday morning (11 Sept) we shall enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at base camp, travel to Memel via Amajuba mountain back road. Quick stop in Memel to buy some soft drinks and snacks for the trip down Mullers Pass. Here we turn South towards Normandien and up Normandien Pass to stop at "Die ARK" view point. Now we are halfway on route and return back to Memel on scenic "lekker" gravel roads and two easy water crossings.
From Memel we travel a short bit of tar until we turn onto gravel again on our way to Ingogo - Flentershoek - Mollshoogte - Zaaihoek Dam - Wakkerstroom.
The local b**r brewery in Wakkerstroom is always a good choice to stop, at the end of a long the day on gravel and churning up dust.
Super supper with Deon & Emma at our accommodation at "base camp" awaits us.
Saturday morning (12 Sept) after a good nights rest and a hearty breakfast, we shall kick up dust direction Paulpietersburg - all day all gravel. We shall turn away before Paulpietersburg to Kempslust, continue riding over the mountains to Utrecht via Blood River Poort.
From Blood River Poort we head North towards Waaihoek Farm, up the old "Trekpad" to Emlwane Game Park for a stunning view of the Utrecht plains and thornveld of Northern KZN. All this is exclusive to Torque & Dust on privately owned farms.
From there we shall descend down Knights Pass into Utrecht, visiting some historical sites in town.
Up the Balele mountain range to view, the only town within a game park, from above.
Riding through high lying ground of the middle Highveld on route to Groenvlei, up Hattingshoogte into the Highveld. Here we turn East to Wonderhoogte, the highest mountain in Northern KZN. The view from the summit is mind boggling.
At this time we have spent a fair amount of time in the saddle for one day and return to Wakkerstroom for a well deserved rest.
The local renowned Hotel is always a good port of call for a well deserved "cold one" A yummy supper, prepared by our awesome hosts Deon & Emma at their comfy and homely dining establishment awaits us. Here we can relax and share with laughter all the giggles and "slips" of the two / three days of awesome riding.
