We're looking for a highly organized and dynamic Operations Manager to ensure a seamless tour operations. This role is similar to a luxury lodge management position, requiring oversight of multiple moving parts, including managing operations staff, freelance guides, fleet vehicles, and an onsite event space. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining the highest standards of service and efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead our Guide Team, Adventure Store + Operations Team
- Oversee our fleet of vehicles + touring equipment
- Coordinate setups + onsite events
- Streamline systems + manage suppliers

WHO YOU ARE:
- Experienced in ops, hospitality, or high-touch logistics
- A confident, calm leader with strong people + planning skills
- Obsessed with detail, systems, and efficiency
- Flexible, proactive, and thrives under pressure
- Bonus if you have experience in a luxury lodge GM role managing guides and vehicles.

We did it!

After achieving our Fair Trade Approved Status earlier this year, Escape+Explore has gone a step further. 2 weeks ago, we undertook a full onsite, external Sustainability Audit. We’ve just heard, we passed with flying colours and have received our Travelife Certified Award for Sustainability.

We are proud to be one of only two Tour Operators in South Africa to have achieved the full and highest level of certification - Travelife Certified Status, and the only one specialising in day tours in South Africa.

Travelife is the world’s leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector, and is recognised and promoted by more than 35 national travel associations, including 20 European travel associations.

The award proves we comply with over 200 sustainability-related criteria, giving our guests and Booking Partners full confidence in our sustainability standards.

It’s taken time, energy and passion from the whole team, our expert guides, adventure architects and support experts, and the award reflects their dedication, our culture, and the quality of our unique adventures.

Special thanks go to our expert Sustainability Partner, Sustainable Steve Gwenin at Sustained Travel, for helping guide us to this success.

Behind the scenes with our Operations Team: the true magic weavers turning vehicles around night after night.

In the heart of our peak season, every detail is meticulously handled. From custom kids’ packs and personalised dietary boxes to birthday cakes and honeymoon bubbles, nothing is missed. And that’s before you even get to the ‘standard’ onboard setup, everything your clients need for an unforgettable day with their Adventure Guide.

Caleb from Ops gives us a sneak peek into the rhythm of the evening shift: music on, vehicles cleaned and stocked, and energy flowing as guides return from epic days out and catch up over shared stories.

BREATHE, RESET, EXPLORE

Today at Escape+Explore HQ, we hosted an intimate wellness experience for a group of visionary business owners. While the guests asked for privacy, we’re sharing the essence of the day.

Led by Holistic Psychologist and musician Nathan Maingard, this unique breathwork session invited them to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect with their inner compass. Set in a peaceful space at our Expedition House, the experience combined guided breathwork, grounding movement, and live acoustic music to unlock clarity and calm.

Nathan’s soulful approach to personal transformation offered a powerful reset. Some guests even took the optional ice bath plunge, raw, refreshing, and invigorating.
