A bloomin’ fabulous flower festival

Stanford is set to bloom once again as the award-winning Chelsea Flower Show exhibit returns from 10–24 September. With Leon Kluge and the Grootbos team at the helm, this year’s Stanford in Bloom promises even more floral splendour, whimsical scarecrows, and vibrant village spirit.

Expect craft markets, wine tours, art exhibitions, and talks from botanical experts. All profits support conservation and upliftment in Stanford and beyond. It’s a celebration of fynbos, creativity, and community pride.

The flamingos have returned to the Vermont Salt Pan after a long absence. Did you know that the term ‘flamingo’ originates from the Latin and Spanish words for ‘fire,’ alluding to the vibrant pink hue of their feathers. These elegant birds are capable of filter feeding in the water for extended periods each day. Interestingly, the joint that appears to be a knee on a flamingo is its ankle, allowing for their unique posture and graceful movements.
