🦏 White rhinos are actually grey, not white — the name comes from the Dutch word “wijde,” meaning “wide,” referring to their broad mouths.

🌿 They are the second-largest land mammal after the elephant.

🦅 Rhinos have poor eyesight but an excellent sense of smell and hearing.

🌍 The white rhino population was once nearly extinct, but thanks to conservation efforts, numbers have recovered to over 18,000 in protected areas.

A fascinating territorial display by the Red Hartebeest 🦌 — seen here rubbing itself against the soil to leave scent markings. This behavior helps communicate dominance and territorial boundaries to other males. The scent comes from glands near the eyes and on the body, leaving a clear message: this land is taken. 🌍

The Red Hartebeest is one of Africa’s most efficient antelopes, capable of reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h 💨 and covering long distances with ease. Its uniquely elongated face and reddish-brown coat are perfectly adapted for spotting predators and blending into the savanna grasslands. 🌾
