The hike starts in Port St Johns and ends in Coffee Bay, with overnight stops in rural villages. munities will give you the warmest welcome and invite you into their homes, to share some stories and exchange cultural information. There is no need to worry or stress about food, sleeping bags or clean water to drink - everything is provided for. This is one of the most beautiful and affordable hiking tours in South Africa, so make sure that you don't miss this great experience and the wonderful hospitality of the Xhosa people. There is a total of four overnight stops in rural villages on a five day hiking tour from Port St. Johns to Coffee Bay, plus an extra day to explore Wild Lubanzi Backpackers or Bulungula Lodge if you are happy to walk further than Coffee Bay. During the hike there are many activities taking place, like fishing, swimming, traditional healer or sangoma visits, mussel collection, cray-fishing and many more. For the lovers of adventure there are about six river crossings - the big ones have ferries or boats, but swimming across a few small rivers is a must ...
All you need for this tour is a small backpack/day pack with a limited number of clothes, towels, water bottles, good hiking shoes and a bit of energy! :-) Alt all times you will be accompanied by a trained guide, and everything will be organized for you, from meeting place to end point. When booking a tour, please be specific about which activities you wish to undertake - fishing and cray fishing for example will need to be arranged and depends on the tides and seasons.
