Member Spotlight: Jacqui Taylor, Agritourism Africa

Jacqui Taylor draws her inspiration for agritourism from African farmers who are true leaders in their communities. She shares a favorite saying: ’n Boer maak ’n Plan — “A farmer will always make a plan to solve a problem or take advantage of an opportunity.”

When asked how agritourism can reframe the way people connect with nature, food, and rural communities, Jacqui highlights the African perspective:

🌱 “Africa is an agricultural continent, with over 60% of farmers being smallholders who grow food and raise animals for local markets. Communities are deeply tied to the land. In Namibia, rural communities must be consulted if land is converted into a game reserve, mining project, or other use because they are directly linked to nature and agriculture. Local communities realize the value of agritourism and want to protect the land that sustains their income.”

Jacqui reminds us that agritourism isn’t just about experiences — it’s about protecting land, culture, and communities for the future.
