Everyone comes in February. They're missing this. Bare vines, green between the rows, cloud sitting on the mountains, and a tasting room you get more or less to yourself.

De Trafford in winter. The vines are asleep, the road up is wet, and the valley has gone that deep green it only manages for a few months a year.

You don't stumble across De Trafford. It's up a gravel road, above the valley, and you have to mean it. Then you sit down to a table like this and understand why the drive was the point.

Nothing happens quickly in here. The wine in these barrels won't be poured for another two years, and the man who made it is already thinking about the next harvest. Patience is the whole craft.
