African Expeditions African Expeditions was born from a humble idea back in 1987. We take the “been there, done that” approach.

More than two decades ago an opportunity presented itself that helped me convert my passion into something I absolutely love to do – private self-drive Safaris with full support. We are a family-owned and run business that proudly wears the title of Pioneers in the Self-Drive Safari Market in Africa. We were the first self-drive operator to offer full logistical support in extremely remote areas t

⚠️ 🇳🇦 From 1 May 2026, visitors to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei are no longer allowed to self drive beyond the 2x4 parking area. Access to Deadvlei will only be possible via authorized shuttle services operated by approved companies and lodge guides.
