Woza eNanda Tour
Woza eNanda is a community-based tourism initiative centred around the Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu (INK) region north of Durban. The initiative promotes heritage, cultural and adventure tourism through authentic township experiences, local cuisine, outdoor activities and historical storytelling.
As part of a networking session with fellow tour operators, we had the opportunity to experience this tour firsthand with the intention of building meaningful relationships that encourage collaboration and shared growth within the tourism industry.
For many visitors, Durban is often associated with beachfront attractions and upscale restaurants. However, the INK initiative offers a deeper and more authentic perspective of the city — taking visitors beyond the skyline and into the heart of Durban’s townships through professionally guided tours rich in history, culture and local significance.
The initiative is deeply connected to the historical importance of Inanda, home to landmarks associated with influential figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, John Langalibalele Dube and Nelson Mandela. Historical sites such as Phoenix Settlement and Ohlange Institute form part of the experience, preserving and sharing the rich legacy of the area.
Beyond heritage tourism, Woza eNanda also embraces adventure tourism through activities such as mountain biking and hiking trails, visits to the Rastafarian Caves and uMzinyathi Waterfall, quad biking, water activities around Inanda Dam, and immersive community and culinary experiences.
Remember to Explore Without Limits the next time you find yourself planning a trip to Durban.
