Frank und Gudrun Münzenberg from Ingolstadt are traveling on Mein Schiff 6 up the West coast of Africa. They booked me via a previous guest recommendation to take them to the Cape of Good Hope, only having 6 hours in which to do the trip. We managed to fit in Bo-Kaap and De Waterkant too. Frank’s day was made!

He sent this lovely thank you message ❤️:

‘Hallo Christiane, wir haben zu Danken, ganz besonders ich! Auf meiner To do Liste, am Cap der Huten Hoffnung, dieser Moment wird immer in Erinnerung an Dich verbunden sein ! Herzlichen Dank für diese tolle Führung durch den Tag! Danke auch für diese Momentaufnahmen!

Danke, danke, 🙏

Herzliche Grüße
Gudrun und Frank 😉😘’

Sunday 9 March 2025, Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Grateful 🙏

For only 20 minutes of Loadshedding this morning, and it being suspended at 10h00. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

For meeting my guests Frank and Kathrin from near Münster at Table Mountain, and taking them for coffee (and Schweineohren for them) at Dinkel Bakery, going through the map of Cape Town with them. We drove down to Bo-Kaap, loving the minimal traffic in the city center. We drove through De Waterkant, down Wale Street, along Church Square, and even managed to get to the City Hall. However, the road past the Castle of Good Hope was still closed due to the Cape Town Cycle Race. We drove through District Six, looking very bare. The highlight for Frank was visiting the Roeland Street Fire Station, being a volunteer fire fighter in his home town. A very kind fireman Mr Hamilton showed us around, Frank climbing into fire engines 🚒, and being given a lot of information. The fire station is the oldest in Cape Town, over 100 years old. There are 32 fire stations in Cape Town, inclusive of Somerset West and Strand, and very few volunteer firefighters are used. The firemen are mainly full-time employees of the City of Cape Town. We drove up Signal Hill, it being very quiet up there, and then I dropped them off at their Guest House in Oranjezicht. A lovely 4 hour tour with Frank and Kathrin. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Breaking Records and Reaching New Heights: Cape Town International Surpasses 10 Million Passengers in 2024

I’m excited to celebrate Cape Town International Airport’s incredible achievement of surpassing 10 million passengers in 2024, with a total of 10.4 million travelers recorded, a 7% increase from 2023. This includes a record-breaking 3 million two-way international passengers, marking a 10% rise compared to the previous year. Breaking through the 10 million mark is a major milestone that showcases Cape Town’s growing role in global connectivity and economic growth.

A big thank you to the team at Cape Town International Airport for their continued hard work in ensuring our airport remains a world-class gateway for travelers.

Looking ahead, we are eager to hear from Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) about their plans to upgrade the airport, particularly to handle the growing number of aircraft operations and passenger movements. These upgrades are critical to ensuring the airport can accommodate future growth and maintain its exceptional standards.

Aviation is a cornerstone of our economy, with every 100 international arrivals creating two jobs that benefit local businesses and communities. I truly enjoy working with airlines and partners through our “Choose Cape Town” campaigns to expand connectivity and showcase our city’s immense value. The 27% growth in air cargo volumes further reinforces the vital role aviation plays in driving trade and investment.

Cape Town is not just a destination, it’s a global hub of opportunity. Together with our partners at Air Access and Cape Town Tourism, I look forward to building on this success and continuing to create opportunities for all.
