Bush Tale Time: How the Jackal Got His Black Back

Long ago, in the early days when animals still spoke the same language, the jackal was proud of his golden coat — sleek, shiny, and admired by all. But he was also boastful, always bragging about how fast and smart he was.

One day, there was a terrible fire sweeping across the savanna. All the animals ran for their lives. But Jackal, curious and cocky, ran toward the fire to show how brave he was. He leapt over flames and darted through smoke… until a burning log fell from the sky and landed right across his back! 🔥

He yelped, rolled, and scrambled to safety — but it was too late. A black stripe had scorched its way down his golden fur. Since that day, all jackals have had a black saddle on their backs, as a reminder:
Being clever is good… but don’t let pride get you burned!

Now, when we see the sleek Black-Backed Jackal trotting through the bush, we remember that fire-branded lesson. 🖤🐾

We LOVE spotting antelope on safari — from the elegant Gemsbok to the mighty Eland… but today’s Eland sightings had us in stitches! 😂

One gave us the full "duck face lips" 💋 and the other rocked a seriously wonky horn like it was high fashion! Who needs comedy shows when you’ve got these bush comedians around?

Beautiful AND hilarious — just another reason we adore the African wild! 🌿

There’s no question why they’re called the kings of the jungle — their presence is commanding, their beauty unmatched, and their energy unforgettable.

🐾🔥 WILD DOGS!!!

What an incredible sighting — today we came across a full pack of African Wild Dogs on our safari! 🐕💨 One of Africa’s rarest predators, and we got front-row seats to the action!

They were playful, powerful, and absolutely mesmerizing to watch. This is the kind of safari magic you never forget! 🌍💛

🐿️🦊 Safari isn’t just about the Big 5 — meet the small cuties!

While out exploring the bush, we spotted the adorable Cape Ground Squirrel and the curious Yellow Mongoose — and they totally stole the show! 😍

📍 Fun fact:
🌰 The Cape Ground Squirrel uses its bushy tail like an umbrella to shade itself from the sun!
👀 The Yellow Mongoose often teams up with meerkats — they even share burrows!

Big or small, every creature has its charm. Keep your eyes peeled — the bush is full of surprises! 🌿

We’re in the stunning Pilanesberg National Park — and the bush is calling! More game drives, more breathtaking landscapes, more chances to spot Africa’s most incredible animals and more time to have meals together.

Who knows what we’ll see next? Lions? Rhinos? Maybe even a leopard? Stay tuned… the wild is full of surprises! 🦓🦒🦁
