🐋 Whales by Bike! 🚲

A very special way to celebrate a 70th birthday — with 14 family members, a love of whales, and the beautiful Cape coast as our playground.

Our privately guided Whales by Bike experience brought three generations together for a relaxed day of cycling, laughter and unforgettable whale encounters. With our guides leading the way, the family enjoyed close-up sightings from the coastline, spontaneous refreshment stops and plenty of time to simply take it all in.

No rigid schedule. No rushing. Just great family time, incredible scenery and the freedom to stop whenever something catches your eye — especially when that something is a whale! 🐋

We recently travelled through Tuscany and Sicily to experience first-hand what makes Italy one of the world’s great cycling holiday destinations. We rode iconic roads, wandered timeless villages, shared long lunches, met passionate local hosts and immersed ourselves in the effortless rhythm of slow travel.

The greatest lesson wasn’t simply about where you ride, it’s about how you make people feel. The finest journeys blend exceptional guiding, authentic local experiences, seamless logistics and the freedom to pause for life’s unforgettable moments.

We returned home inspired, carrying new ideas that will enrich our luxury day tours and multi-day cycling journeys across the Cape.

And perhaps our biggest takeaway? Italy is a global benchmark but the Cape belongs in the same conversation. With dramatic coastlines, spectacular mountain passes, world-class food and wine, warm hospitality and incredible value, South Africa delivers an experience that rivals the very best.
