What to expect when driving north through Beitbridge.

Zim side procedure.
Just after the bridge there's Port Health.
Present vaccination certificate/PCR Covid19 results.
They'll give you a "control card" Please don't lose this as Immigration can't stamp your passport without it.

2. Drive up from Port health and park as near to the shed as possible.
Go to Zinara and buy your gate pass (bridge toll fee R125.00 for a private car)

3. From Zinara go to Immigration with.
(a) Passport
(b) gate pass
(c) Covid19 control card
- Non Zimbos are asked to fill in an arrival Form.
- You may be asked to pay for your visa if you require one.

4. From Immigration go to Zimra under the shed, ask them to "confirm" vehicle details.
They'll ask for your car Certificate of Registration & gate pass. (they may go with you to the car to confirm these details.
After confirmation Zimra will stamp at the back of your gate pass.

5. From Zimra you go to port health office.
Show them your Covid19 vaccination certificate/PCR test results and they will stamp at the back of your Gate pass once again.

6. Go into the customs arrival hall, and present the following
(a) passport of the driver
(b) car certificate of registration
(c) affidavit (if the car is not yours)
(d) gate pass

7. The Zimra officer will process your *Temporary Import Permit*
- Carbon Tax USD10
- Third Party Insurance USD30
- Road Access USD10
NB trailers also pay Third Party Insurance of USD10 as well.

8. From there go to ZRP CID for stamping at back of gate pass (they may want to see car as well)
From CID you can now go & collect your car and drive to the shed for final clearance.

The Zimra officer will want to see what you have in the car against what you'd have declared.

9. A Zimra officer will sign your gate pass if he's satisfied with your declaration.
The same officer may ask you to go and pay duty for certain items you may not have declared.

10. From the Zimra officer under the shed, go to the security guard & Zinara who will finish the release process.
You then will be free to go out of the Zimra area.
You may be stopped at 2 or 3 more places by the police and or army for verification of your papers.

Exclusions form the travellers’ rebates
The duty free allowance of USD200.00 per person granted on goods imported by travellers for their personal use no longer includes the following:
• goods which are incorrectly declared;
• goods which are imported for commercial purposes;
• alcoholic beverages in excess of five litres per traveller of
which two litres may be spirits:
• goods which are imported by any member of the crew of an
aircraft, ship or vehicle arriving from outside Zimbabwe;
• stoves;
• refrigerators;
• blankets;
• cooking oil; and
• laundry bar soap.
• Beds
• Mattresses,
• Flour,
• Maize meal,
• Sugar,
• Meat,
• Fish,
• Powdered milk,
• Yoghurt,
• Cheese
• Eggs,
• Corn puffs,
• Jam, and
• Honey.
This implies that importation of such goods will attract duty despite the fact that the value might be under the duty free allowance of USD200.00.

Duty on a vehicles with an engine capacity over 1500cc is still being paid in USD. Only cars with an engine capacity less or equal to 1500cc are paying half USD and the other half RTGS.

In the meantime information is put across in a confusing way.
