As part of our partnership with UNICEF Zimbabwe , Wild Horizons is proud to contribute to the renovation of the maternity ward at Ndlovu Clinic: roof repairs, a new ceiling, bathroom upgrades, and tiling of the delivery room

Across Mkhosana, Sizinda, and Ndlovu schools, 545 girls completed comprehensive menstrual hygiene management training as part of our partnership with UNICEF Zimbabwe.

Why does this matter for a climate campaign? Because climate-related pressures - unreliable water, school closures during heatwaves and floods, household demands during drought - affect girls in particular ways. Each of those pressures is a reason a girl might miss school.

Climate-smart facilities (clean water, working toilets, dedicated MHM rooms) help girls stay in education when conditions are tough. Thatā€™s the link between climate action and childrenā€™s rights, made concrete.

We recently shared the headline: three schools, three solar boreholes. Hereā€™s what else came with that work at Mkhosana Adventist Secondary. A dedicated MHM room. Drip irrigation for the school garden. Rehabilitated sanitation.

An upgraded ICT lab where students can build the digital skills theyā€™ll need next. Climate-smart infrastructure is rarely just one thing. Itā€™s a school day held together by water, sanitation, energy, and learning all working at once.

In October 2025, with support from Go2Africa, Mr. Willis Hughes and Africa Inscribed, Wild Horizons installed eight biogas digesters in rural communities, bringing the total to 65 biogas digesters we have installed around Victoria Falls.

They do far more than provide clean cooking fuel. "By replacing firewood collection, a task that falls overwhelmingly on women and girls,ā€ they free up hours every day. The number of hours that girls can spend in school. The Hours that women can spend on income-generating work.

Also indoor smoke, a major cause of respiratory illness in rural households, is virtually eliminated. Clean energy here isnā€™t just an environmental initiative.

Itā€™s a direct investment in girlsā€™ education, womenā€™s economic independence, and child health.
