Celebrating 170 Years Since David Livingstone First Set Foot on Livingstone Island ✨
On 16 November 1855, David Livingstone landed on what is now known as Livingstone Island, guided by the Makololo people. From this very spot, he looked out across the mighty Victoria Falls for the first time and wrote the famous words: “Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.”
Today, 170 years later, we honour this moment in history. As the exclusive operators to Livingstone Island, Our Safari is better tomorrow is proud to share this remarkable place with guests who continue to experience the same awe-inspiring views.
Thank you to Glen Simes (Vic Falls writer & photographer) for sharing the historical research, narrative, and images that make this tribute possible.
