E-scooter licence needed for riders in Dubai from April onwards.
Dubai’s government has issued a change in safety precautions for the use of bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters in the city.
If you’re riding an electric scooter, you will now need a licence issued by the RTA to ride and operate e-scooters in Dubai.
The new update states that you can ride and park your bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters only on RTA’s designated tracks and parking spaces. Riders are prohibited from riding bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters on pedestrian tracks and on roads with a speed limit of over 60km per hour.
The minimum age for riding e-bikes or e-scooters was raised to 16 years in January this year. Meanwhile, cyclists below the age of 12 years should be accompanied by an adult cyclist who is aged 18 years or older.
