On a Camps expedition you may find yourself visiting and learning about some of the most beautiful beaches in the world😍🌊

It's important to remember that beaches are more than just amazing places to explore. They are home to wildlife, important ecosystems, and play a vital role in the health of our planet🌏

Our student travellers often take part in beach clean ups and waste recycling projects that contribute to marine conservation, but you don't need to wait until your expedition to make a difference!🙌

You could organise your own beach litter pick, or help to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our coasts. You can also aim to reduce the amount of single-use plastic in your daily life, or make more eco-friendly choices when it comes to the products you buy♻

These small actions play an important role in creating larger change, and we're so excited to keep working together to protect our beaches❤

Today is World Orangutan Day!

Known for their distinctive red hair and impressively long arms, orangutans are amongst some of the most intelligent primates on earth!🦧

They live in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo in southeast Asia, with their name coming from the Malay words 'orang hutan', meaning human of the forest🌿

Sadly, deforestation and illegal hunting has put the species at risk, meaning that orangutans are currently classed as critically endangered. That is why it is so important to understand and care for these animals to help protect their future❤

On an expedition to Borneo, you may get the chance to see orangutans in the wild as you explore the Bornean jungle. You might visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you can see these amazing creatures up-close and learn more about the species🌟

By learning more, spreading awareness and supporting conservation efforts, we can all help to protect orangutans and the rainforests they call home🌏🤝

How can a Camps expedition broaden your horizons?

Going a Camps expedition can benefit you, local communities and the planet in so many ways!🌏

Alongside personal growth, increased cultural awareness and strengthening relationships, a Camps trip can also broaden your horizons. You may come home from your trip with a different perspective of what educational, career or travel path you would like to take in the future🌟

Seth, who travelled with us in 2024, shared his story with us: "Going to Borneo last summer really gave me an appetite for travel. It was such an eye-opener,
this really sparked a want for travel within me.'✈

Darcy travelled to Cambodia in 2023 and is currently on her second expedition with us in Ecuador. She tells us how her time with Camps inspired her
to pursue a career in sustainability and has now successfully secured an apprenticeship in sustainability with Amazon!👏

We love hearing about how your time on expedition impacted your future plans, and it's great to see so many of our past travellers continuing to make impact in so many ways🙌❤

We're so lucky to have been welcomed into so many incredible local communities all over the world, and been able to make an impact through community led projects that add value where families say they need it most 🧡

By coming on one of our expeditions, you'll also grow in both confidence and cultural awareness, and see your own life in a new perspective! 🙌

In the words of Rami, "It's not only you that benefits, it's the whole community. I've never made SO many people smile!"

We aim to keep making people smile, all over the world, for many more years to come! ☀️

If you visit places such as a Betsimisaraka fishing village and the Queen's Palace, you'll find yourself immersed into the local culture as you learn about Malagasy history and an traditions🙌

A trip to Madagascar is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience, we can't wait to see you there!

A new month means a new UNSDG to celebrate! This month we are focusing on Goal 9: industries, innovation and infrastructure🛠

This goal seeks to build resilient infrastructure, encourage sustainable industry and drive innovation to support long-term development. Goal 9 is important
because economic growth, social development and climate action are all dependant on investment into these areas🌏

At Camps, we work towards UNSDG 9 through many of our projects. We contribute to improving local infrastructure through initiatives such as building and renovating schools, community centres and homes for local people🌟

We also support local industry by getting involved in projects that help to generate income for community members, such as craft activities and livestock welfare🐐

We also foster innovation by providing safe and inspiring learning environments, some of our travelling students even go on to pursue careers related so sustainability or biodiversity after their trips, leading to impactful and important innovation in these industries🙌

By supporting these projects we are helping to make the world a fairer, safer and more sustainable place for everyone❤
