Program: BRIEFING AND ENGAGEMENT SESSION ON VMY 2026

Embassy of Malaysia in Addis Ababa successfully organised a Hybrid Briefing and Engagement Session on Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) for members of the tourism and travel trade fraternity in Ethiopia, held at Skylight Hotel Addis Ababa. The session was attended by 60 travel and tourism trade partners.
The programme began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Mohd Afandi bin Abu Bakar, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in Addis Ababa, followed by the VMY2026 video presentation. This was followed by a virtual presentation by Mr. Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin, Director of Tourism Malaysia, Dubai, who shared insights on Malaysia's tourism offerings, including the upcoming 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit. He also proposed a potential collaboration with Ethiopian travel agents and Ethiopian Airlines.
An interactive Q&A session was held allowing participants to engage directly with the presenters and gain further insights into Malaysia's tourism products and destinations.
Overall, the session served as an effective platform to strengthen collaboration with Ethiopia's tourism and travel trade partners, promote Malaysia's tourism products, and support ongoing efforts towards increasing tourist arrivals from Ethiopia in conjunction with the VM2026/2027 campaign.
