An Abu Dhabi court has ordered a company to pay Dh113,611 to a former employee who was dismissed without receiving his legal dues after 21 years of service.
The court ruled that the worker was entitled to:
• Dh16,000 in unpaid salaries for two months
• Dh93,051 in end-of-service gratuity
• Compensation for unused annual leave
The employee said he was terminated without notice and without payment of his benefits. He earned a basic salary of Dh6,500 and a total monthly income of Dh8,000.
The court stressed that employers must pay wages and benefits on time and found the company failed to settle the worker’s dues upon termination. As a result, it ordered full payment of the owed amount.
