I am an independent tour guide specializing in historical tours of Dubai. Most tourists are mesmerized by the glitzy skyscrapers, malls and attractions of "new Dubai." And rightly so - they are a testament to the vision, progress and success of this vibrating, pulsating city.

Less appreciated is "old Dubai," the historical and cultural nerve center of the city and the place where it all started.

Situated around the Dubai Creek, my informative tours will provide a political, economic and social background to Dubai - its start from an obscure pearling village and how it transformed itself into the metropolis it is today.

The tour starts at the Dubai Museum and continues along both sides of the famous Dubai Creek - the original lifeblood of the city. We will visit both the Bur Dubai side with its historical buildings, attractions and sights. Then we will head over to the Deira side with its bustling commerce including its markets (or souks) and its traditional port.

A must for the well-informed traveler to understand where, how and why Dubai is what it is today.
