Kuwait International Airport is shut down and flights across the entire Gulf region are being cancelled, here is everything you need to know right now.
On June 3rd, 2026, Kuwait’s airspace was completely closed following attacks on Kuwait International Airport’s passenger terminal. The building sustained severe damage and multiple people were injured. Kuwait Airways immediately announced a full suspension of all operations until further notice, urging passengers to monitor official channels for updates on revised flight schedules.
The impact has spread across the entire region and is hitting travellers from every corner of the world. IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air and SpiceJet all cancelled flights following the airspace closures, leaving thousands of passengers stranded across India and the Middle East. Jazeera Airways has also suspended all operations, with both Kuwaiti carriers now running emergency services out of airports in Saudi Arabia.
The disruption goes far beyond Kuwait. Air France-KLM has suspended flights to Dubai until June 17th, IAG has delayed resuming flights to Dubai, Doha and Tel Aviv until August 1st, and Lufthansa along with several other European carriers have suspended regional services entirely. Turkish Airlines flights to Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE remain suspended. Dubai International Airport is currently on heightened alert.
If you have travel plans anywhere in the Gulf region in the coming days — check your flight status with your airline immediately, do not travel to Kuwait International Airport, and follow your government’s latest travel advisory before making any moves.
