أمانيريناس - كانداكة (الملكة المحاربة) من كوش، تحدت أمينيراس الرومان الذين تولوا مصر بعد وفاة كليوباترا السابعة. حكمت من حوالي 40 قبل الميلاد إلى 10 قبل الميلاد. وهي واحدة من أشهر الكنداكات، بسبب دورها في قيادة الجيوش الكوشية ضد الرومان من خلال الحرب التي استمرت خمس سنوات، من 27 قبل الميلاد إلى 22 قبل الميلاد. وقد نجحت في التفاوض على معاهدة سلام بشروط مواتية. وصفت أمانيريناس بأنها الشجاعة، ذات العين الواحدة

Amanirenas - a Kandake (warrior queen) of kush, Ameniras challenged the Romans who took over Egypt after the death of Cleopatra VII. She reigned from about 40 BCE to 10 BCE. She is one of the most famous kandakes, because of her role leading Kush*te armies against the Romans from in a war that lasted five years, from 27 BCE to 22 BCE. She succeeded in negotiating a peace treaty on favourable terms. Amanirenas was described as brave, and blind in one eye.

Old Dongola (Old Nubian: Tungul; Arabic: Dunqulah al-ʿAjūz‎‎) is a deserted town in Sudan located on the east bank of the Nile opposite the Wadi Al-Malik. An important city in medieval Nubia, and the departure point for caravans west to Darfur and Kordofan, from the fourth to the fourteenth century Old Dongola was the capital of the Makurian state. The urban center of the population moved downstream 50 miles (80 km) to the opposite side of the Nile during the nineteenth century, becoming the modern Dongola.
A Polish archaeological team has been excavating the town since 1964.
