Bucket list holidays carry a lot of expectation, especially somewhere like the Maldives where people have often dreamt about going for years.

You might travel by train through the Rockies and spend a few nights in Banff and Jasper, take a relaxed self‑drive along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands, or follow a coastal route that includes Gros
Morne’s fjords or Pacific Rim’s beaches and rainforest.

Routes can be as simple or as detailed as you wish, with comfortable places to stay and plenty of time to pause for viewpoints, short walks and wildlife watching.

As someone who pretty much runs on tea, this one feels quite appropriate today. There’s usually a pot brewing beside me from morning until evening and, more often than not, a mug of tea somewhere on my desk while I’m planning holidays.

One of the things I love about travel is how something as simple as tea can tell you so much about a destination and its culture.

From mint tea in Morocco, to afternoon tea in the UK, chai in India, bubble tea in Taiwan or a traditional tea ceremony in Japan — every country seems to have its own rituals, flavours and stories connected to it.

Travel is often about the big moments and famous sights… but sometimes it’s also about sitting quietly somewhere unfamiliar with a drink in your hand, simply taking it all in.
