~ Wild Life Wednesday ~ Not all visitors to our shores are human!

Cuban Tree Frogs (𝑂𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑙𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑠) are non-indigenous to Antigua, but well established island wide. They were first reported at Long Island in 2006, probably arriving via imported plants, but have since spread rapidly. At night, Cubans have a drawn “croaky” call.

Green Iguanas (𝐼𝑔𝑢𝑎𝑛𝑎 𝑖𝑔𝑢𝑎𝑛𝑎) are not endemic to Antigua, but are now well established in various locales. A founding population may have rafted in from Guadeloupe as a result of Hurricane Louis in 1995,shortly after which individuals were found on the East coast...indeed 15 were found in just one floating tree in Anguilla to the North following that storm.

10 years ago, Trek Tours was just a very random and impulsive idea amongst friends. Since then we have grown this business amidst fear and setbacks but most importantly, dedication and loyalty. We are beyond proud of the team we have built, the partnerships we have cultivated and the lives we have impacted for those visiting our lovely shores. To be able to combine love for country with a love for the outdoors has been the most rewarding “job” that any of us could ever wish for. Happy Anniversary and Cheers to the next 10 years! 🥂
