When traveling, it’s tempting to pack your itinerary with as many cities and sights as possible. I used to think I had to do this too, especially during my 2018 trip to Italy. With only 11 days (9 actual minus travel days) I wanted to see it all—Florence, Rome, Milan, Venice, and more. But a wise, seasoned traveler friend advised me to slow down. He suggested I pick one city as my home base and explore from there.

Taking his advice was a game-changer! Instead of rushing between multiple destinations, I stayed in Florence for the entire trip, except for a quick overnight in Cinque Terre—a must-see on my vision board. This approach allowed me to truly immerse myself in the local culture and enjoy each moment without feeling rushed.

So, next time you’re planning a trip, consider making one place your home base and explore the surrounding areas. You’ll get a richer experience and more memorable moments. 💫
