- Today we celebrate our country, our people. The Independence obtained in 1912. We are a small and developing country, our loyalty and togetherness carry us through any obstacles placed in our way. The love and bond we have for one another is unbreakable and untouchable. Just last month Syrian chemical weapons were to be destroyed in the beautiful land of Albania. From distance, they saw us as a weak and easily manipulated country and people. What they didn't expect was for us to rise up as a entire nation and Albanians from all over the world to unite and let our voices shine through!
One of Albanian proverb's:
"In the eyes of the mouse, the cat is a lion."

- Oggi festeggiamo la nostra nazione, la nostra gente. L’indipendenza ottenuta nel 1912. Noi siamo un piccolo paese in via di sviluppo, la nostra lealtà ed unità però ci portano oltre gli ostacoli posti sul nostro cammino. L'amore e il legame che abbiamo l’uno per l'altro è indistruttibile e intoccabile. Proprio il mese scorso armi chimiche siriane dovevano essere distrutte nelle belle terre dell’Albania. I paesi più lontani ci vedevano come un paese con persone deboli e facilmente manipolabili. Quello che non si aspettavano era che risorgessimo come una nazione intera e che anche gli albanesi provenienti da tutto il mondo si unissero e gridassero con una unica voce!
Un proverbio albanese dice: "Agli occhi del topo, il gatto è un leone."

- Protesta sot kunder shkatrrimit te armeve kimike ne Tirane - administratoret e Tiranatour ne kete moment jane afer te gjitheve tiranasit dhe shqipetareve qe protestojne. Si gjithmone, mendojme qe çeshtje te tilla duhen te zgjidhen nga populli dhe jo nga individet qe e perfaqesojne ne Parlament.

- The protest today against the destruction of chemical weapons in Tirana - Tiranatour administrators at this moment are close to all Tiranasit and Albanians to protest. As always, we think that such issues should be resolved by the people and not the individuals who represent them in Parliament.

- La protesta di oggi contro lo smaltimento delle armi chimiche a Tirana - gli amministratori di Tiranatour in questo momento sono vicini a tutti i cittadini di Tirana e a tutti gli albanesi che protestano. Come sempre, pensiamo che questioni simili devono essere risolte dai cittadini e non dagli individui che li rappresentano in Parlamento.

- Orion Shima eshte nje nga piktoret kontemporan me te mire shqiptar me fame internacionale. Djali i piktorit te njohur Alush Shima ("Van Gogu shqiptar" sic quhet ndryshe ne Shqiperi, nje "maestro" i ngjyres dhe i peizazhit). Ashtu si babai edhe Arioni eshte i lidhur me peizazhin por ndryshon tek interpretimi i tij. Peizazhi dhe piktura e Orionit eshte nje piktur kontemporane, shume e pasur me ngjyra dhe me harmoni, keto levizin sipas stineve (piktura qe po ju tregojme eshte i nje peizazhi dimeror dhe ngjyrat po ashtu). Ne shume piktura te Orionit ndihet edhe nje ndikim i piktures gjermane dhe ketu vine ne mend dy gjigande te piktures kontemporane Anselm Kiefer dhe Gerhard Richter.

-Orion Shima is one of the best contemporary Albanian painters with international stardom. The son of the famous painter Alush Shima ("Albanian Van Gogh" as termed in Albania, a maestro of color and landscape). Like his father, Orioni is also associated with changes to the landscape. But they differ at the way they interpret it. The landscape paintings of Orion are contemporary paintings, very rich with color and harmony. They move like the seasons (the paintings we are showing are a winter landscape and colors as well). In many of his paintings, Orion feels the impact of a German paintings and here we remember two contemporary painting giants in Anselm Kiefer and Gerhard Richter.

- Orion Shima è uno dei migliori pittori contemporanei albanesi di fama internazionale. E' il figlio del famoso pittore Alush Shima ("il Van Gogh albanese", com'è definito in Albania, un maestro del colore e del paesaggio). Come il padre anche Arion è legato ai paesaggi ma i due differiscono nella sua interpretazione. I dipinti dei paesaggi di Arion appartengono ad una pittura contemporanea, molto ricca di colore, di armonia e si muovono, cambiano in base alle stagioni che rappresentano (il dipinto che vi mostriamo appartiene ad un paesaggio invernale così come i colori). In molti dipinti di Arion si sente l'impatto della pittura tedesca contemporanea di cui ricordiamo due giganti: Anselm Kiefer e Gerhard Richter.

Parku Madh ose 'liqeni artificial'. I ndodhur ne jug te qendres te Tiranes eshte nje strehe larg nga trafiku dhe pluhuri. Eshte ndertuar ne vitet '50. Ne perimetrin e tij ndodhen permendore te ndryshme dhe ndertesa të rëndësishme, disa nga më të rendesishmet jane varrezat e trupave angleze që vdiqën duke luftuar gjermanet ne Luften e Dyte Boterore, pallati i Brigadave i cili dikur shërbeu si vendbanimin e Mbretit Zog dhe parku zoologjik. Deri dikur tek parku, kur ishin festat, shpesh tiranasit shkonin te luajnin dhe te benin piknik; tani liqeni është i rrethuar nga parqe natyrore te këndshme dhe disa restorante. Tashti eshte vend per nje sy gjume pas drekes, footing, me kapur peshk, apo per te notuar.

Grand Park or ‘the artificial lake’. Situated in the south of Tirana is an haven far from traffic and dust. It was build in 1950. Around the perimeter are situated different memorials and important buildings and the ZOO. One of the most important ones is the cemetery for the British troops who died fighting the Germans in WWII and the Palace of the Brigades, which once served as the residence of King Zog. Before residents came to the park on holidays to play and picnic; now the lake is surrounded by pleasant parkland and a few restaurants and it’s a place for people to snooze after lunchtime, to fish, or to swim.

Il Parco Grande o "il lago artificiale". Situato a Sud del centro di Tirana è un paradiso lontano da traffico e polvere. E' stato costruito negli anni '50. Attorno al perimetro sono situati diversi memoriali e costruzioni importanti nonché si trova lo ZOO. Una della più importanti è il cimitero delle truppe inglesi che avevano combattuto contro i tedeschi nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale e il Palazzo delle Brigate, il quale un tempo era la residenza del Re Zog. Prima i residenti venivano al parco per le festività a giocare o fare picnic; ora il lago è circondato dal verde, da alcuni ristoranti ed è un luogo in cui si va per riposarsi dopo pranzo, pescare e nuotare.

Orthodhoks Church - Ex house of Tirana Sports Club

- "Kisha Ortodokse "Ungjillëzimi i Hyjlindësese" njohur ndryshe si "kisha e re" në rrugën e Kavajës është ndërtuar në vitin 1964. Në një kohë, kur vetë shqiptarët dhe Shqipëria ishin në kulmin e sulmeve kundër ideologjisë fetare. Disa e interpretojnë ndërtimin e kësaj kishe me përligjien e politikës të pushtetarëve të regjimit komunist, "për përkrahje nga diaspora shqiptaro-amerikane". (Në fillim të viteve '60 Shqipëria zyrtare u përgatit për të pritur Fan Nolin, vizita e të cilit u shty. Ndërsa ai vdiq më 1965). Në vitin 1965, Kisha e re menjëherë u shndërrua në palestër sportive. Deri në vitet '90-të kjo kishë ka kryer një varg funksionesh e më pas u "rikthye" sërish në institucion fetar." - Marre nga : Blerina Goce - Gazeta Metropol.

- The Orthodox Church of the Holy Annunciation, in Kavaja Street, is called in a different way as "the new church". Was built in 1964 in a period when the albanians were against the religions. Some people interpet the bulding of this church in that period as a diplomatic rules for the communism regime "to support the Albanian-American Diaspora". Infact, at the begining of the '60th the Communism Regime of Albania start to prepare to host one of the greater albanian of ever Fan Noli that emigrate and lives in America. He was an writer, scholar, diplomat, politician, historian, orator, and founder of the Albanian Orthodox Church, who served as prime minister and regent of Albania in 1924 during the June Revolution. His visit was postponed and he died in 1965. Immediatly the curch was closed and was then used to house the Tirana Sports Club. Services resumed in 1990.

- La chiesa ortodossa dell'Annunciazione, in via Kavaja, nota anche come la "nuova chiesa", è stata costruita nel 1964. In un'epoca in cui, nell'Albania comunista, gli attacchi contro le ideologie religiose erano all'apice. Alcuni interpretano la nascita di questa chiesa come un tentativo diplomatico del regime comunista per poter "sostenere" la diaspora albanese-americana. Infatti, nei primi anni '60 ufficialmente l'Albania si era preparata per ospitare Fan Noli che viveva in America. Egli è stato un politico, poeta, storico, drammaturgo, oratore, traduttore e sacerdote ortodosso albanese che era emigrato e viveva negli Stati Uniti. Fu un esponente politico-culturale dell'Albania dell'inizio Novecento, sicuramente uno dei più conosciuti ed amati in Albania, nonché Primo Ministro nel 1924. La sua visita fu rinviata ma non poté mai farla poiché morì nel 1965. Così, la chiesa fu immediatamente trasformata in un centro sportivo di Tirana. Fino agli anni '90 questa chiesa ebbe funzioni simili, a volte anche diverse, per poi ritornare alla sua funzione originaria solo dopo la caduta del regime.

Monday. The week beings again. Work, school, and daily stress. For many it is a dark day and we thought about enlightening it with the colors of Tirana.

Lunedì. Ricomincia la settimana. Lavoro, scuola, lo stress quotidiano. Per alcuni è una giornata buia e abbiamo pensato di colorala un po' con i colori di Tirana.
