Монастырь известен своим местоположением у подножья библейской горы Арарат, на которой, согласно преданию, оказался Ной на ковчеге после Всемирного потопа. ( Xor Virap is an Armenian monastery situated not far from the border with Turkey. It is famous with its location near the Mount Ararat , on which, according to the history Noah's ark landed after the global flood.)
